We know that Jesus Christ said "I AM the Alpha and the Omega" in the Apocalypse, but did He say He was the Alpha and the Omega in the Old Testament?
God is identified as the "I am He, the First and the Last."
In Isaiah (Isaiah) 48:12 we read:
"Hearken to me, O Jacob, and thou Israel whom I call: I am he, I am the first, and I am the last."
In Isaias (Isaiah) 44:6 we read:
"Thus says the Lord the king of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts: I am the first, and I am the last, and besides me there is no God."
He's already identified Himself as the first and the last. But here, he goes further. The same God identifies Himself as "the redeemer." Redemption is HIS work. Furthermore, He speaks of Himself in both the singular and the plural, much like He did in Genesis when He said "Let US (Plural) make man in OUR (Plural) image, male and female HE (singular) created them."
In Isaias (Isaiah) 41:4 we read:
"Who hath wrought and done these things, calling the generations from the beginning? I the Lord, I am the first and the last."
He calls all generations "from the beginning." Jesus Christ said "Before Abraham came to be, I AM."
In Osee (Hosea) 13:4 we read:
"But I am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt: and thou shalt know no God but me, and there is no SAVIOR beside me."
He says He is the ONLY GOD. There is NO GOD beside ME. He goes further. He identifies Himself as THE SAVIOR. He says there is no "SAVIOR" beside ME (Singular).
In Isaias (Isaiah) 46:9 we read:
"Remember the former age, for I am God, and there is no God beside me, neither is there the like to me."
He's already identified Himself as God, but He says there isn't even anything LIKE HIM.
In the Apocalypse (Revelation) 1:17 we read:
"And when I had seen him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying: Fear not. I am the First and the Last."
Here, it is THE SAME FIRST AND THE LAST as we have seen in the Old Testament. And John says, "I fell at His feet as dead." Who was at the foot of the Cross? John was at the foot of the Cross. Now, we see the SAVIOR, the REDEEMER in the Old Testament has "feet" and "hands."
He's resurrected!
In the Apocalypse (Revelation) 2:8 We read:
"And to the angel of the church of Smyrna write: These things says the First and the Last, who was DEAD, and is ALIVE."
The same FIRST and the LAST in the Old Testament, the One who IS THE REDEEMER, and THE SAVIOR has undergone a crucifixion, a DEATH, and a RESURRECTION. The FIRST and the LAST, was DEAD, and now is ALIVE.
In the Apocalypse (Revelation) 22:13 we read:
"I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end."
GOD has identified Himself as THE REDEEMER, THE SAVIOR, the FIRST and the LAST, and the ALPHA and OMEGA in both the Old and New Testaments.
In the Apocalypse (Revelation) 11:17 we read:
"We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, who art, and who was, and who art to come: because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and thou hast reigned."
Here we see God says He is ALMIGHTY. How can He take great power which He already possesses? When He becomes MAN. And He now REIGNS as GOD and MAN.
In the Apocalypse (Revelation) 1:8:
" I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, says the Lord God, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."
He is the unchanging Eternal one "Who is, and Who was, and Who is to come, the Almighty."
In Titus 2:13 we read:
"Looking for the blessed hope and coming of the glory of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ."
Jesus Christ IS the same God in the Old Testament who said of Himself He was the Savior.
